Integers

Negative numbers represent values below 0 and positive numbers represent values above 0

Eg. of addition and subtraction statement
1 + (-2) = 1 - addition statement
3 - (-1) = 4 - subtraction statement

Area of a Triangle and a Parallelogram

Area of a Trianglea = bxh divided by 2

Area of a Parallelogram
a = bxh

h = perpendicular line from the base to the highest point
b = Base

*Height is perpendicular with base

Divisibility Rules

1- all numbers are divisible by 1
2- even numbers
3- when you add the digits up, sum of the digits are divisible by 3
4-divisible by 2 twice
5- ending digit has to be 5 or 0
6- divisible by 3 and 2
8- divisible by 2 thrice
9- add all the digits up, sum of the digits are divisible by 9
10- digit has to end with 0

*there is no divisibility rule for 7

Circle Formulas

c = πdc = 2πr
d = 2r
a = πr²
Area is the measure of space a two dimensional shape covers
the plural of Radius is Radii

r = Radius
a = Area
d= Diameter
π = pi

BEDMAS

(B)rackets
(E)xponents
(D)ivision
(M)ultiplication
(A)ddition
(S)ubtraction

*D,M,A,S don't have to be in order, which ever operation is first -meaning the left side- that's what you do first.

/ means divided by

Eg. (34.67 + 23.65) x 5.6 / 11.2 =
      (58.32) x 5.6 / 11.2 =
      326.592 / 11.2 =
           29.16
*then box the answer

Transformations

Translation- a slide along a straight line
Rotation- a turn about a fixed point
Reflection-a mirror image

I found a website for practicing these, it's third grade math but it's still good pracitice.

Question about BEDMAS

If there is a multiplication equation in a bracket and an addition sign in the other bracket, do you go from left to right or Division/ Multiplication sign first?

Eg. (7+5) divided by (4 times 2)
Do you do the (7+5) first or the other bracket?

Divisibility Rule for 2

All even numbers are divisible by 2.
Even numbers that end with 0,2,4,6,8

Eg. 23 456 is divisible by 2

Why: It ends with 6 and it is even

Try this, see if any of these numbers are divisible by 2.

2132, 5445, 8779, 6643,

Divisibility Rule for 5

All numbers that end with 0 or 5 is divisible by 5

eg. 10 is divisible by 5
because 10 divided by 2 = 5
5 times 2 = 10
And it ends with 0

Try 10 020, see if it is divisible by 5

Divisibility Rules for 9

The sum of the digit is divisible by 9

Eg. Is 983 142 divisible by 9? Let's find out

9+8+3+1+4+2 = 27
Add all the numbers up and then you will get sum

27 is divisible by 9

So, that means 983 142 is divisible by 9
