Variable-a letter that represents an unknown number.
eg. x,a,n
Expression-any single number or variable, or combination of operations(-,+,x) involving numbers and variables.
Value-a known or calculated amount.
\Constant-a number that does not change and it increases or decreases the value of an expression.
Numerical Coefficient-a number that multiplies the variable.
eg.2t
Measures of Central Tendency
Mean-add up all values divide by how many there are.
Median-the middle number in a set of ordered values, might be the mean of 2 middle values.
Mode-the value that shows up the most.
Range-positive difference between largest and smallest values.
Outlier-values that are too big or too small compared to the other values.

Denominator and Numerator
Denominator-the bottom number of a fraction and tells us how how many equal parts the whole is divided into.

Numerator-is the top number of a fraction and tells us how many parts of the whole we have or are dealing with.
Converting Fractions, Decimals, and Percents
Repeating Decimals
Try this with your calculator, type in 2 and divide it by 3.
You should get something like 0.666666666...
Well, that's what we call a repeating decimal.
There are many repeating decimals such as 0.396396396... o.525252...
You could make a repeating decimal shorter, instead of 0.66666666..., you could get 0.67.
That's called rounding it. You could also say zero decima
l six repeating.
Chapter 6 Review: Question 1-4
Unscramble the letters for each puzzle. Use the clues to help you solve the puzzle.
1. TEWLSO EMRTS
when the numerator and denominator of a fraction have no common factors other than 1.(two word) Lowest Terms
2. LIBIISVED
when a number divides into another number, with no remainder.
Divisible
3. MOOMNC TRACOF

Common Factor
4.Copy and complete the table. If the number in the left column is divisible by the number in the top row, put a check. If it is not divisible, put an X.
Chapter 10.2 Page 361 #5
The following figures are made of lines, red dots, and black dots.
1. Describe as many patterns as you can.
Red dots keep adding up 1 after a Figure.
Black dots keep adding up 4 after a Figure.
4 crossed lines add up 4 more every Figure.
2.What is the number of red dots in Figure 100 of this pattern?
100 red dots.
3.Make a table that shows the figure number and number of black dots for the first 7 figures.
4.What is an expression for the number of black dots in any figure?
4b
5.What is the number of black dots in Figure 51 of the pattern?
204

Multiples
Multiple - the product of any given number and natural number like 1, 2, 3...
eg. some multiples of 3 are: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18...
Multiples:
2 - 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
3 - 3, 6, 9, 12, 15,
4 - 4, 8, 12, 16, 20
5 - 5, 10, 15, 20, 25
Multiples are just skip counting.

Chapter Review: #5
a) How do you know that 210 is divisible by 2, 5, and 10?
Answer - 2 goes into every even numbers, 5 ends with either a 0 or 5, 10 just ends with a 0.
b) How do you know 1232 is divisible by 4 and 8?
Answer - 4 goes into the number two times (2+2=4), 8 goes into it thrice (2+2+2=8).
c) How do you know that 333 is divisible by 3 and 9 but not by 6?
Answer - 3 goes into it after you add the numbers up and get the sum. Same rule for 9, 6 needs 2 and 3 for it to fit.
